WELCOME RETURN OF CHRIS MCGLADE’S WEST END SELL OUT SHOW

Cutting his teeth in the North East’s resolute working men’s clubs, self-proclaimed Smoggie and Middlesbrough native Chris McGlade will be bringing his brand-new show Forgiveness …………………….following a series of impressive performances at the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

A fiercely powerful show about a brutally shocking story; Chris’ father was murdered in 2011. How do you forgive your father’s murderer? Only Chris knows… Inspiring uproarious laughter, tears of sincerity and standing ovations, Chris’ conscientious comedy and cutting-edge poetry makes for a truly unforgettable show.

Speaking on Forgiveness, Chris says:  This is my father’s legacy. He was a funny, bighearted, inclusive, tolerant, forgiving man. Humour, passion, inclusivity, tolerance and forgiveness are things I feel the world could do with a little more of today, peace.”

Chris is passionately political; he spearheaded a fractious six-year campaign opposing a large housing scheme earmarked close to home on Redcar’s Coatham Enclosure (which he won). He brings that same fire and energy to his performances, looking past the ‘liberal comedy consensus’ and taking apart and revealing the hypocrisy in Britain today.

It might not sound funny and is certainly un-PC but this is a must-see show.

Chris continues: “I want free-thinking people coming along prepared to laugh at others and themselves. I don’t want people thinking ‘can I laugh at that?’ It’s like the comedic part of the brain has been lobotomized”

McGlade is a stalwart of the comedy scene having been performing for 30 years. He’s performed on both sides of the Atlantic with some of his career based in the Los Angeles scene – a vastly different scene to the uncompromising environments of the north eastern working men’s clubs. Chris is also a successful actor and has been seen in the West End run of Billy Elliot as well as a role in Ken Loach’s I Daniel Blake’.

What the press are saying about Chris McGlade:

A masterclass in confessional comedy”
★★★★ Telegraph

“McGlade elicits laughter and tears”
★★★★ Mail on Sunday

“Heartfelt and often intense”
★★★★ Chortle

“Big old-fashioned belly-laughs a unique comedy voice”
★★★★ Scotsman

BUMP N’ GRIND

If you remember the packed dancefloors, the big tunes and the unforgettable atmosphere of Not Guilty, this one’s for you.

Bump N’ Grind brings the spirit of one of Bradford’s most-loved R&B nights to its new home at Tapestry for a monthly celebration of classic R&B, soul, reggae and club anthems from the 80s and 90s.

This isn’t a tribute night. It’s a reunion.

A chance to catch up with old friends, relive great memories and dance to the soundtrack of some of Bradford’s best nights out.

Taking to the decks are the DJs who helped define the Not Guilty experience:

Iffy Ranks – Not Guilty’s resident R&B DJ for almost three years, renowned for his seamless mixing, deep knowledge of the genre and ability to keep the dancefloor moving all night long.

DJ Marvs – A key member of the Not Guilty family, bringing smooth blends, infectious energy and crowd-pleasing selections that made every event feel special.

DJ Sway – A firm favourite with the Not Guilty crowd, known for his uplifting mix of R&B, reggae and party classics that kept the atmosphere electric from start to finish.

Expect classic slow jams, dancefloor fillers, forgotten favourites and the biggest old-school anthems from an era when nights out were nights out.

Whether you were a regular at Not Guilty, Cloud Nine, Sugar Caine, Livingstones, Maestros, Canucos, Flag Ship, Old Crown or any of Bradford’s legendary nightlife spots, you’ll feel right at home.

New venue. Familiar faces. Timeless tunes.

Music. Memories. Good times.

PAUL TAYLOR

PAUL TAYLOR is the man who created Retro, the UK’s leading light in Classic House music way way back in 1998. In the late ’80s, Paul Taylor & business partner Steve Farkas took ownership of 1200 capacity club called The Angels located under a multi-story car park in Burnley, Lancashire. Although The Angels had been opened a few years by this point, it wasn’t until around 1990 when it would rise out of the early house scene and start to draw crowds from all over. During these formative years, the club was host to many D.J.’s who later became big names in the following decade. D.J.s like Carl Cox, Sasha, Pete Tong, DJ Hype, Paul Oakenfold, and many others graced the Angels decks. Alongside these soon-to-be worldwide D.J.’s, you had local talent playing like Paul Taylor, DJ Welly, and Rick B.

JOHN PLEASED WIMMIN

Renowned for pulsating DJ sets and flamboyant drag outfits, Jon Pleased Wimmin kicked off his career behind the decks in the sweat-soaked, heaving epicentre of the rave revolution in 1991. Warming up for Danny Rampling in Ibiza, Jon was an immediate hit and he soon became a fixture at superclubs up and down the country – such as Fabric, Ministry of Sound, Cream, Renaissance and loads more!

Jon has gone on to play alongside luminaries such as 2ManyDj’s, Jacques Lu Cont, Danny Tenaglia, Sasha, Carl Cox, Andrew Weatherall, Boy George, Pete Tong, Sister Bliss and Erol Alkan to name a few. More recently, Jon played at the Manchester Pride alongside Ana Matronic from Scissor Sisters, gigged for Cream, as well as DJing at Soft Cell’s 40th anniversary show at the O2 in London in 2018. His unrivalled buckets of experience, eclectic taste and encyclopaedic knowledge of dance and pop music make him the perfect candidate for any wedding party looking for a theme of banging club beats and fabulous glamour!
